Kerrie Poliness Red Matter Wall
Drawing #2 provides cross-sections of the expanding
forces of decorama. She diagrams the movement between the
autonomy of abstraction and the existential coordinates
of the gallery in grids that buckle under the pressure of
dilation. The distortion draws points of perspective out
of the flat matrix in a way which suggests an interface
between different dimensions. Poliness emphasises the
surface tension of her work by recruiting other people to
execute her geometric equations on the walls of the
gallery. Her helpers work at close range, tracing her
abstract formulas into the institutional container and
into the perceptual space of lived bodies. |
