Honours courses

The Honours Year is often regarded as the most challenging level of academic study. It is a very intense educational experience: the short 36 week academic year combined with the significantly increased expectations of Honours students in comparison to their previous studies can at times be demanding.  Successful applicants are selected because they are able to meet these challenges.

While the Honours program requires significant levels of personal motivation and commitment, we would also anticipate it to be an inspiring, stimulating and rewarding experience.

The honours courses available are as follows:

The Honours Year is the beginning of your individual research as a professional artist or designer.  Practice is evaluated in the context of peer group activity, both within and external to the University.Over the course of the year, the role of staff members develops from that of teachers (as at undergraduate study) to supervisors or advisors (as appropriate for post-graduate research).

Our objective is for students to leave the course as fully equipped practitioners rather than students, informed both about their particular area of expertise as well as wider art practice.
