Step two: register for your computer access

The university provides a range of IT services to students. While enrolled at Monash you will be granted a computer account that you may use to access IT facilities. The account consists of a username and a password and is called an Authcate account. It provides access to electronic services on the internet such as email, the my.monash portal, library and the Web Enrolment System (WES). Your email account is one of the main sources of communication between you and the university and you are expected to check it at least weekly.

We strongly recommend that you set up your Authcate account before enrolment day by logging onto: http://www.monash.edu.au/students/computer
Click on ‘Register for a new account’ and you will be able to get your Monash University Authcate* account.

Note: You will need to use either your Monash or VTAC student ID number to register for your account. Your Monash student ID and course code can be found on the address sheet enclosed in your enrolment pack. These details are different to your VTAC ID number and course code.

If you don't have access to the internet, you can register for access on enrolment day.

  • When registering for your Authcate account you will have an opportunity to complete an anonymous, voluntary survey regarding your expectations about life at university. You are encouraged to complete this survey as the collated results will be used when planning additional services related to student transition.

Your username and password allow you to access the IT resources of Monash, including the my.monash portal system. The portal is your simplified and personalised gateway into the Monash intranet. It provides you with updates and information on services and activities, both administrative and academic, that relate to your enrolment. You will be able to enrol on-line when you have set up this account.

Step three: find out about your course structure
