Step one: accepting your offer

You have your offer letter, what next?

You will have received a letter that confirms you have been given a place in an Art & Design course on the Caulfield campus. This is what is called an "offer letter". This letter will include information on what you need to do to accept your place, and how to enrol.
Your offer letter will also include other information, such as a booklet from Monash ( Monash Enrolment Guide 2009). Make sure you read everything.

How to accept your offer

You need to attend enrolment in person.

What if I can't attend on the designated enrolment day?
If you cannot attend on the designated enrolment day you should appoint a person to act on your behalf (ie a proxy). A proxy can be a parent, other relative or friend who has been authorised to undertake both academic and administrative requirements on your behalf. An ‘Authorisation for proxy enrolment’ form can be found at the back of the Monash Enrolment 2009 booklet which is included in your enrolment pack. The ‘Authorisation for proxy enrolment’ form should be photocopied once, both copies completed and signed by yourself and the proxy, and both copies brought by the proxy to enrolment day.

You can also download the ‘Authorisation for proxy enrolment’ form from this Monash Enrolment for On-Campus Students Website.

If you live interstate or overseas, are unable to attend on enrolment day, and do not know someone who can act as your proxy, please contact the faculty’s Student & Administrative Services Unit for further assistance.

IMPORTANT
If you don't enrol at the time specified in your offer letter, either on-line, in person, by proxy, or you don't advise the Student & Administrative Services Unit that you cannot attend or be represented at the specified enrolment time, you will lose your place in your course.
If something goes wrong on the day you are due to enrol (eg.your car breaks down, sudden illness etc.) ring us and leave a message (if you are put through to voicemail) including your name and a contact number and we will organise an alternative day. Alternatively you can email us with your details.

What if I want to defer?
You may be offered a place in a course, but not wish to start studying straight away; this is what universities call a deferral. In most courses you can defer your place for twelve months. By deferring your place you can take some time off from studying and it does not count towards the completion time limit for your course. You can download an Application for Deferment (this form is also located at the back of the Monash Enrolment 2009 booklet which is included in your enrolment pack) form from the Monash Enrolments website. You can either post this form to us, or deliver it in person on your scheduled enrolment day.
If you do not officially notify us of your request to defer you will lose your place in your course.

IMPORTANT
If you decide, to defer your place in the course and lodge your application for deferment form either in person on your enrolment day or by posting it to us, you do not need to follow any other enrolment steps.
The faculty will write to you in early November to find out if you intend to commence your studies in the next academic year.  If you decide, that you will be resuming your studies, the faculty will again contact you in January to advise you on how you will enrol - so make sure you keep your contact details up to date!
