Undergraduate Course Transfer

Course transfers within Monash University is a competitive process. Applicants interested in transferring must apply using the Monash University course transfer application by the due date.

Students may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether the student will be able to follow their course progression.

Please note that those students applying for a course transfer should enrol in their current course as if they were continuing so as not to jeopardise their enrolment in the Faculty if the application for a course transfer is unsuccessful.

The levels of performance stated here are the minimum requirements needed to be considered and dependant on available places, a higher performance level may be required to be successful.  Students may apply to transfer mid-year for available courses, however the selection process will take into account the affect a mid-year transfer will have on the individual course progression of the student.

The minimum criteria for currently enrolled Monash students to be eligible to apply for a course transfer into the Faculty of Art & Design are that they meet the requirements listed below:

  • Successful completion of at least 24 points in a Monash University course
  • Satisfactory completion of prerequisite entry requirements (Please note applicants may be required to present a folio and attend an interview to be considered)
  • Submit an Application for Course Transfer form by the due date

Entry Requirements

In addition to the requirements outlined above, applicants are normally required to meet the following criteria to be considered:

Applicants should be aware that the table above only lists the Faculty of Art & Design extra requirements; managing faculties extra requirements may also apply to theses courses.

Credit for previous studies (previously Advanced Standing)

If successful, applicants may be eligible for credit. Credit will only be awarded where the studies completed prior to admission are of relevance to the new course and where the credit awarded will not detrimentally affect the individual course progression of the student.

Credit may be given for all units for which equivalence of learning is established up to the following limit. The student must still satisfactorily complete, at Monash University, at least 48 credit points in the course, or not less than half the course, whichever is less, in order to be awarded a degree, diploma or certificate for the course.

In the case of a 144 credit point undergraduate degree, this means that a maximum of 96 credit points of credit can be granted.  In the case of a 48 credit point postgraduate diploma, it means that a maximum of 24 credit points of credit can be granted.
