Visiting Artists & Designers ProgramMonash Faculty of Art & Design's Visiting Artists & Designers Program is a dynamic residency prospect unique within Australia. It represents a significant professional development opportunity for an artist selected to participate in the program and for the staff and students of the Faculty of Art & Design. Operating since 1999 the program has included artists from a variety of media, cultural backgrounds and with specific research and project interests. Artists who have participated in the program include Stelarc, Paul Brown, Caroline Locke, Paul Derrez, Maurizio Bottarelli, Marie-Jeanne Hoffner, Janet Lawrence, John Aiken, Leonardo Ortega, Marie Strauss, and Si Sapsford. The Faculty requires each artist to be a fully involved as possible with a relevant studio at Monash. This will include working with students across various levels of study, giving lectures about your work, and networking opportunities with peer colleagues at Monash, broadly in Melbourne and where possible nationally. At the conclusion of a residency each artist is expected to leave a work to become part of the Monash Faculty Collection. What does the Visiting Artists & Designers Program offer? The program offers accommodation for the duration of the residency in a well appointed apartment within the Faculty of Art & Design building. It provides full access to the Faculty's impressive range of studio facilities and resources as well as the opportunity to engage with the vibrant community of Monash art and design. |
