Recognition for distinguished research in fine arts
The Australian Council of University Art and Design School (ACUADS) has recognised Monash fine arts associate professor Euan Heng for a lifetime of excellence in research.The ACUADS Distinguished Research Award, one of three presented during ACUADS’ annual conference, acknowledges the recipient’s sustained and consistent contribution to research in the visual arts, crafts and design sector.
Associate professor Heng was recognised for his contribution to fine arts studio research, including the supervision, examination and management of higher degrees by research.“I was both pleased and flattered to receive this award but I also acknowledge my good fortune in the excellent students I've had the privilege to supervise, plus all the great co-supervisors and graduate officers I have worked with,” he said.
Professor John Redmond was delighted the research achievements of Associate Professor Heng had been acknowledged among his peers.
“The award recognises a distinguished career in fire arts research,” he said. “It also acknowledges Euan’s leadership and exemplary role in developing Monash’s Higher Degree by Research program in the fine arts into one of the most significant in the country.”
Associate Professor Heng has been based at the Caulfield campus (and its predecessor Chisholm Institute of Technology) for more than 20 years.A painter and printmaker, he has held more than 20 solo exhibitions and taken part in numerous group shows in Australia, Asia, Europe, UK, Canada and the USA. He is represented in the National Gallery of Australia and in public collections around the country.
