Student awarded Tolarno Hotel Art Prize
Painting student Kylie Rawson has been awarded the Annual Tolarno Hotel Art Prize for her painting, untitled. Kylie will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and her work will be exhibited in the foyer of the Tolarno Hotel in St Kilda for one full year.
The Tolarno building has long been associated with Art and Artists and the walls of the restaurant, bar and foyer are still adorned with past resident Mirka Mora's work.
The winning work can be bought by a guest, but if not sold by the end of the year, will be purchased by the hotel at a negotiated price. The Annual Tolarno Hotel Art Prize is open to all painting students at Monash Art & Design and is decided by co-owners of the Tolarno Hotel, James Fagan and Bernard Corser.
