Pink Man in Paradise

Faculty Gallery Exhibition

The Faculty of Art & Design, Monash University, is pleased to be the first Australian venue for an exhibition of works by prominent Thai artist, Manit Sriwanichpoom.

Pink Man in Paradise is the latest series of satirical staged photographs featuring Pink Man. The Pink Man performs his role in Manit's narratives as the wandering individual lost in the age of consumerism. Dressed in his fuschia suit, the Pink Man has pushed his fluorescent pink shopping trolley through Asia and Europe.

The Pink Man in Paradise series was staged in Bali, following the tragedy of the Bali bombings in October 2002. The images feature the island's most famous, yet deathly quiet, tourist destinations - a haunting reminder of recent world events and the subsequent war on terrorism.
