Home appliances of the future unveiled at DesignEx 2004
Six innovative home appliance designs, created by Monash Industrial Design students, were unveiled at the Electrolux exhibit at DesignEx 2004, held in Sydney last month.
As part of a collaboration with home appliance giant Electrolux, students were challenged to 'push the boundaries' of traditional white goods design as part of their studio practice. The final results demonstrated a diverse range of solutions which addressed issues of social & cultural trends, emerging technologies, design directions and ergonomics.
"Electrolux is pleased to support the future leaders of Australian Design, tapping into a new generation of world-class talent," said Lars Erikson, Design Director, Electrolux Home Products.
"The student designs push the boundaries of how people traditionally view white goods. But more importantly, they also reflect the key global trends of convergence and integration where home spaces are increasingly multifunctional and open in design
