Architecture at Monash

Monash is introducing an architecture program, commencing with first year in 2008.

To hear more about the program, and tour the Faculty of Art & Design's facilities, come along to Open Day on Sunday 5 August.  For more information, see Monash Open Day website.

It will be the only course of its kind in Australia established in an art & design faculty environment. Architecture at Monash will emphasise the centrality of design to architecture and, in turn, to the built environment. This is underpinned by the technology, history/theory and communication components that support architectural design. The creative focus continues into the research philosophy, which focuses on the development of experimental and cutting-edge design

Architecture at Monash is being shaped around design education that is relevant to practice, in close alignment with the architecture profession and the research and academic policies of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. The course is being planned in consultation with an advisory group of distinguished Australian architectural practitioners and educators. The Faculty intends to invite eminent national and international practitioners and theorists to run master classes as an extension of its excellent Visiting Artist Program.

Architecture at Monash will encourage connections between art, design and architecture, and will build on the university's excellent track record in design and related disciplines.
