Sally Mannall
Take Cover, a new video work by Sally
Mannall considers the undefinable nature of danger
placing it on the shifting ground between internal and
external force. The ambiguity produced by the image of a
cyclist wearing a placard inscribed with the words
"Take Cover" creates a play around uncertainty
and imminence. The work investigates the boundaries
between imagination, fiction and fact.
Jo McCambridge & Toine Horvers
Jo McCambridge is an Australian visual
artist living in the Netherlands. Since living in Europe
her work has been based on living with two western
cultures. For all the similarities of these cultures
there was indeed a difference brought about by history
and the relationship to physical and mental space. Toine
Horvers' performances often involve installations
concerning real-time (sound) connections between
different locations. For this situation, McCambridge
visiting her homeland and Horvers staying in Rotterdam:
the project Portraits has been developed as a
series of 12 live audiovisual dialogues showing peoples
living environments in Rotterdam and Melbourne. The live
audiovisual will be held three times per week, for
approximately half an hour. The talks will be introduced
and conducted by Guss Vreeburg, Dutch Art Historian.
