Karl-Heinz Eckert

Breeze! NEW YORK/ BERLIN 1988/98

The regular humm of a motorised fan invites the viewer to a peep-hole, at the far end of the locked and darkened room stands a rotating fan swinging from side to side, a projection of Vermeer's Portrait of a Young Girl trapped on the white blades, back and forth, never loosing eye contact. Karl-Heinz Eckert is concerned with the art of seeing, often finding and recording hidden images as in "Visage" 1994, shown at 200 Gertrude Street, or exploring optical phenomena as in this project.

Cameron Robbins

Cameron Robbins works to reveal hidden structures in the elemental forces, which lie just beyond the usual perceptions. The Inevitable Gravity explores the sombre realms of gravity and magnetism through contrasting different states of matter. It features the new works: Cloud Tank a liquid particle suspension, and the magnetic residue Accretion Series. His most recent work was the fire and sound piece Double Venturi Steam Organ opening event for CONSTRUCTION IN PROCESS VI: THE BRIDGE, with his collaborative group Down Street Studios.
