State education policy in Australia is proving resources for primary and secondary schools to log into the World Wide Web and national arts initiatives are pumping $A84 million into multimedia development over the next four years. If computers are to dominate modes of communication, it is necessary to question the context in which increasing quantities of art images are being made available and the effect, if any on the reception of these images.
