The Bachelor of Industrial Design course offered at Monash emphasises project-based learning, which means that at each level of the course, you will learn to plan and manage projects within the constraints of a brief –just as you would in real-life. In class you will have ready access to the insights and experience of teaching staff, who are all experienced designers. Throughout the course you will be encouraged to enter your designs in competitions, where you will hone your ability to research and develop innovative responses to product design. Many of our graduates have used their success in national and international competitions as a springboard for their design careers.

At Monash, you will receive the education and training you require to work as a professional industrial designer. You will have access to outstanding facilities, such as a safe workshop environment with dedicated areas for vacuum-forming and prototyping; computer facilities which include Silicon Graphics, PC and Macintosh platforms; and the latest modelling software, including rapid prototyping, as used by industry.

Career outcomes: Career opportunities include work in consumer and industrial product design in the automotive, electronic, packaging, exhibition, sporting and furniture industries as well as many others.
