A number of satellite projects will be presented alongside Archive/ Counter-Archive. These are conceived as ways to expand the work of the conference into visual forms of research, to amplify its public presence in Prato and the surrounding region, and to foster links with significant art institutions in and around Prato.

The principal satellite project is a collaboration with Dryphoto, a widely-renowned contemporary art space directly opposite Palazzo Vaj on Via Pugliesi in Prato’s historic centre.  Funded by the Commune of Prato, this project comprises two workshops on the relationship between contemporary art and the archive, the first for a select group of young Italian curators, the second bringing together these young curators and a group of emerging Italian artists. The project culminates in an exhibition in which these emerging artists respond to the idea of the archive, an exhibition which will be installed at Dryphoto, public spaces around Prato, and Palazzo Vaj itself, and which will open the night before the conference begins. This project at Dryphoto is being led by the Florentine curator Lorenzo Bruni, who will also present a paper on the project and its evolution at the conference itself.
